How to Participate
If you're participating in WikiTree's 15 for 15 missions in 2023, here's some ideas for completing some of the tasks with US Black Heritage Project activities. You can sign up on this post and use this post to let the team know you've completed 15, 30, or 45 missions in order to get a sticker for your profile. This page lists only the missions that are closely related to US Black Heritage Project activities - a full list of all of the missions can be found on this page, so go there for full details.
Share Your Activities With Us
We'd love to hear about what you're doing to complete these missions! Comment below telling us about it, or with a link to your own free-space page tracking your progress. Betsy Ko put this free space page together that you can copy/paste into your own free space page to track your progress.
US Black Heritage Activities that Fulfill the 15 for 15 Missions
About You
- Complete the first four "About You" missions, especially for those who have Black heritage themselves:
- Add a photo of yourself to your profile
- Add or improve the biography on your profile
- If you haven't yet, add your DNA test info to your profile, add your GEDmatch ID (if you have one) and your mitoYDNA.org ID (if you have one)
- Increase your CC7 number by 150 (helpful tips on how to do this)
- Make any USBH-project related contributions to complete the other two "About You" missions:
- Earn 5 Club 100 badges (make 100 contributions in a month)
- Earn 5 Club 1000 badges (make 1000 contributions in a month)
Profiles
- Note: For the missions that have 15, 30 and 45 as options, you do not have to restart a count for each one. Once you have completed 15, you can complete another 15 to hit the 30 mark and another 15 to hit the 45 mark. You also don't have to do all 15, 30, or 45 with USBH profiles - even doing a few would help the project reach our goals.
- Upload 15 photos of a person or a headstone to the relevant profile(s)
- This could be any profile with the African American Sticker. We also have notables that need photos and the African-American Cemeteries categories where you could find profiles that need gravestone photos. Just make sure photos are not copyrighted.
- Check your watchlist and anniversaries list to see if you have any African American profiles that qualify for these missions:
- Sort your Watchlist by oldest edit and try to improve 15 of those profiles
- Improve 15 profiles from your Anniversaries list
- Improve 30 profiles from your Anniversaries list
- Improve 45 profiles from your Anniversaries list
- Resolve 15 profiles in the US Black Heritage Project, Needs Biography category or the USBH Notables, Needs Biography category
- Resolve 30 profiles in the US Black Heritage Project, Needs Biography category or the USBH Notables, Needs Biography category

- Resolve 15 profiles in the US Black Heritage Project, Needs Profiles Created category
- Resolve 30 profiles in the US Black Heritage Project, Needs Profiles Created category
- Resolve 45 profiles in the US Black Heritage Project, Needs Profiles Created category
- Improve 15 profiles of African American individuals who died young (See how to find profiles and what all can still be added to the profile even though their lives were short here)
- Improve 30 profiles of African American individuals who died young
- Improve 45 profiles of African American individuals who died young
- Use David Randall's Checklist to improve 15 profiles to completeness
- David Randall's checklist to improve profiles to completeness is similar to the US Black Heritage Project Notable Profile Standards, so we'd especially love to see any improved for these goals. Any other profile with the African American Sticker could also be improved using the checklist.
- Use David Randall's Checklist to improve 30 profiles to completeness
- Use David Randall's Checklist to improve 45 profiles to completeness
